With our suite of equipment, we provide diagnosis and management of many retinal conditions. These include wet and dry age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal vein occlusion and retinal artery occlusion.
Treatment is tailored to each patient and options include medical management, retinal laser and/or injections of intravitreal medicines as needed.
For the wet form of macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal vein occlusion and sometimes retinal artery occlusion, anti-VEGF drugs are often prescribed. These are administered via a direct injection into the back of the eye. Often multiple injections over several years are required. Generally, the injections are not a cure but will stabilise vision and in some patients, they can help improve vision. The injection process is fairly straightforward with minimal discomfort and is administered in the rooms.
Patients should monitor their vision regularly with an Amsler grid.
